GRADUATE ENDOWMENT ABOLISHED  Yesterday (28/02/08), the Scottish Parliament voted 67-61 for scrapping the graduate endowment. The SNP, the Lib Dems, the Greens, Margo McDonald and one rebel Labour MSP in the name of Elaine Murray all voted.
Yesterday marked the start for a better and less stress free future for students; with the compulsory “tax” of £2300 taken off their already heavy debts. But let’s not stop there; with the graduate endowment abolished, grants reintroduced for part-time students and more money going to universities than ever before, let’s continue in these strides towards the ultimate goal of grants for all and make Scotland an example to the world of what free education should be like- from nursery to college/university.
